2026-03-24 Weekly Executive Report – Sustainability
KPI Dashboard Finalization
Completed remaining KPI Dashboard items carried forward from the prior sprint, including backfilling historical snapshots in the Prod table and finalizing the Site KPI Dashboard documentation. These items close out the KPI Dashboard initiative, ensuring the feature is fully production-ready with complete historical data and supporting documentation.
Data Verification Applet – Full Feature Delivery
Delivered the Data Verification Applet. This is the largest single-feature delivery in recent sprints and provides a comprehensive system for validating device data integrity across the platform.
On the backend, the team implemented base verification rules for all device types, added specialized rules for Pulse Meter, Missing Data, Constant Pulse Counts etc, built a Timestream Data Checker for device reading queries, and created a CloudWatch Decoder Log Checker for decoder error detection.
On the frontend, implemented three distinct views: Site View for per-device verification at a site, Device View for single device verification deep-dives, and Rules Config View for viewing verification rules.
This applet gives the team a powerful tool to systematically detect and diagnose data quality issues across sites and device types, moving from reactive investigation to proactive, rules-based verification.
Water Data Quality & Investigations
Investigated and resolved an issue where US water sites were showing zero water usage, restoring accurate consumption data for affected locations.
Implemented a Timestream filter by site to prevent Warehouse test data from being written to S3 for installed sites. This addresses a data contamination issue where sensors reporting with Site = Warehouse during testing were mixing test data with real site data, improving the integrity of production datasets.
Completed DCA2 data validation by comparing system data in Timestream against utility bills, fulfilling a request from Chimere to verify pulse counter accuracy at that site. Continued work on the India water sites status document for Amazon.
Installer App Enhancements
Added functionality to update the site in the LoRaWAN table when devices are deleted from the Installer applet, ensuring that device deletions in the application are consistently reflected in the underlying data layer. Updated the installer documentation to cover the new delete functionality, keeping user-facing guides aligned with current capabilities.
Lowlights
Persistent Water Data Issues
Water data quality continues to require significant investigation effort, with US sites showing zero usage, India site issues carrying forward, and test data contaminating production datasets. While each issue has been addressed, the recurring nature of these problems across regions suggests that systemic improvements to the data ingestion and validation pipeline are needed. The newly delivered Data Verification Applet is expected to help identify these issues earlier going forward.
Overall
The achievement is the full delivery of the Data Verification Applet and KPI dashboard. Data Verification feature fundamentally shifts the team’s approach to data quality from reactive firefighting to proactive, rules-based verification. Alongside this flagship delivery, the team resolved multiple water data issues across US, India, implemented safeguards against test data contamination, enhanced the Installer App’s delete workflow. The volume and quality of output this week demonstrate strong execution and a maturing platform.
